Who are we?The BAHC (Belgisch Avifaunistisch
Homologatiecomité) is the Flemish section of the Belgian rarities
committee, founded in 1967. In close cooperation with the Francophone
section, the CH (Commission d'Homologation), founded in 1964, it keeps the
official Belgian avifaunistic list up-to-date.
Both sections examine records of
rare birds in the whole of Belgium, but records of French speaking
observers are processed by the CH, whereas records of Dutch speaking
observers are dealt with by the BAHC. The annual joint reports of both rarities committees,
published in Oriolus and Aves respectively, complement and modify the
decisions of the CBA (Commissie voor de Belgische Avifauna),
published in De Giervalk 57,3-4 (1967): 273-363. The Belgian rarities
committee represents Belgium in the AERC (Association of European
Rarities Committees) and has adopted European AERC
guidelines.
